Caelyn Hammett
FARM MANAGER
Caelyn joined the Crooked Roots team in 2025 after a career managing other organic farms and ranches in Boulder County. She moved to Colorado from North Carolina to earn her B.S. in Horticulture and Soil and Crop Sciences from CSU and hasn't thought about leaving the state since. She is passionate about feeding the world through regenerative agriculture, community food systems, learning new things, and thoroughly enjoying life. When she's not running around the farm, you can find Caelyn exploring the mountains with her cattle dog Maynard, experimenting in the kitchen, and reading about all things agriculture. Her favorite things on the farm include lambing, the first green grass in the spring, the intersection of summer and fall veggies, having fun working hard with the crew, and seeing happy customers at CSA pickup and farmers markets. Caelyn is so excited to be shepherding Crooked Roots into the 2026 season and beyond! -

Sydney Morrison
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Sydney has been with Crooked Roots for just about a year now. She grew up in rural Pennsylvania, running around in the woods and taking care of her pigs and chickens. She received her degree in Marketing from West Chester University and quickly realized that an office job wasn’t the right fit. She moved out West in 2020, lived on the road to pursue climbing for a while, and eventually found her way to her heart place in Eldorado Springs. The pieces all started to come together after she started working at the farm and gained a sense of purpose and belonging in the farming community. She loves a good day’s work, followed by a dip in the creek and a well prepared meal.
She loves every part of the farm, but is especially excited to share this year’s harvest with friendly and new faces at the farmers market. -

Daniel Furlan
FARMER
Daniel’s journey has taken him from the expansive farms of Brazil to the foothills of Boulder, where he is currently supporting his wife’s postdoctoral research at CU. A true expert in his field, Daniel grew up managing large-scale cattle and crop operations before earning his Master’s in Agronomy. Today, he balances his passion for the land with his love for family, spending his time discovering Colorado’s hidden gems and traveling back home to Brazil whenever the opportunity arises.
About The Farm
In 1998, Doug and Vicky Farrar purchased this 20-acre property after moving to Colorado with their two children, Matthew and Laura. The farm had been neglected for years; the irrigation system was defunct, the hay fields were dormant, and the barn was rundown.
For the next 15 years, the Farrars dedicated themselves to a full restoration. They fully repaired the irrigation system, revitalized the hay fields, and began raising chickens for farm-fresh eggs.
In 2017, the family expanded their vision, introducing row crops and raising and breeding livestock, including sheep, and pigs.
Crooked Roots Farm has been growing ever since! The Farrar family owns and manages the farm's operations, and our success is powered by the skill and dedication of our full-time and part-time farm crew. We are excited to share this journey and provide our community with the freshest crops and sustainably raised livestock.
